In this workshop, we’ll dig into the key design principles and methods for learner-centered rubric design that disrupt some of the features of the most dominant approaches in the field: proficiency scales, deficit language, evaluation-focused rubrics, performance indicators that lack clarity, coherent progression, and/or are embedded with bias in their design or use.

In STEM education, so much focus is put on execution techniques that we sometimes forget how great technologies first started – from wild, out-of-the-box daringness. I reignite this natural quality in students by engaging them in pitching projects, where students motivate their visions by pitching what they want to do, why they want to do it and how it can be possible.

This workshop will share a practical, manageable strategy for using GenAI to augment writing instruction in a way that can assist students in their developing writing skills, while also emphasizing the need for robust AI literacy skills that keep "humans in the loop".

A key first step in data analysis, whether in middle school or in grad school, is data visualization. Seeing data allows students to intuit the math involved with data analysis and builds the platform for learning statistics.
