The 21CL Library Connection (previously Library Mini-conference) is an annual gathering for the library community.
Featuring a collection of speakers from library thought leaders, guest authors and presentations from innovative teacher librarians, this is one professional learning event for librarians, by librarians that you shouldn’t miss.

Sam Helmick

Community & Access Services Coordinator & President-Elect of the American Library Association Iowa City Public Library & American Library Association

Sam Helmick has served as an Iowa library worker for over fifteen years. As Iowa City Public Library’s Community & Access Services Coordinator since, Sam is responsible for the teams which provide Help Desk, Bookmobile, as well as Public Relations and Marketing services to the community.

Sam is the immediate past president of the Iowa Library Association and served during a year when the state experienced the second most library adverse bills in the nation and two intellectual freedom lawsuits.

Sam is President-Elect of the American Library Association and speaks internationally on topics related to advocacy, intellectual freedom, social marketing, outreach, wellness, and library fundraising.
