Dr. Kelly Grogan
Head of Innovation and Staff Learning, Chinese International School
Kelly fosters cultures of engagement through training, system implementation, and community social responsibility. She is a researcher leading instructional change with data-informed practices as Head of Innovation and Staff Learning at a dual-language school in Hong Kong.
Kelly holds a doctorate of education in educational leadership and is an adjunct professor in Lamar University’s Digital Learning and Leading graduate program. Kelly’s doctoral research was a qualitative and quantitative content analysis designed to draw from the research the dominant pedagogies, student achievement reporting methods, and research methodologies retained to evaluate learning in a tablet-led environment. Her current research focuses on student interest in STEM content and careers and parent perceptions of STEM Education.
Kelly is committed to balancing learning innovation through the implementation of sustainable practices. This important work has led to further collaborations on STEM related projects and community partnerships, most recently with Hong Kong’s Catalyst Education Lab (CEL) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As Director of Connected Learning at CEL, Kelly facilitates learning opportunities for teachers in local Hong Kong schools. As Program Director for the MIT STEAM Camp @CIS collaboration, she brings together 250 students across 35 Hong Kong schools and community stakeholders to empower students to solve real- world challenges inspired by the UN Sustainable Goals.
Kelly has developed a personal learning network of educators on a global level through her Apple Distinguished Educator Advisory Board position as well as assisting with the UNESCO Teacher Task Force Policy Dialogue Forum in Cambodia. Kelly’s passion is to create a world of wonder and exploration for students and teachers.
