This session explores how libraries of any size or budget can create more flexible, engaging spaces.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll experience practical professional development grounded in how teachers across NYC, Hong Kong, and top Asia-Pacific schools are transforming their instructional practice: designing formative practices that surface real evidence from PBL and student work, interpreting that evidence, and adjusting instruction in real time.

The steps will be outlined and outcomes from several countries will be highlighted.This workshop uses examples of whole countries efforts to integrate 21st century skills but there are lessons that apply from this work that transfer to work within individual schools

Understanding context and issues has to be built in at all stages of a child’s journey through school in order to have a lasting impact. One way in which this can be made accessible for students is through “Place as Pedagogy.” This provides a framework for learning that uses surroundings and communities outside the classroom in the neighborhood.

As educators we want to ensure that we are investing our limited time and energy into instructional strategies that will lead to student success.

This presentation will focus on how we can Innovate Through Drama; there will be a particular emphasis on the use of dramatic improvisation techniques and games in education. We will explore how these can be effectively applied in the classroom.

Amy and Claire will share how they conducted MS and HS bookclubs based on "This Book is Anti-Racist" by Tiffany Jewell.

At its core, the Flip the System movement is about teacher agency – empowering teachers to shape our profession, democratising education, replacing top-down accountability with teacher-led reform, and elevating the voices of those working in schools to such a level that their influence cannot go unnoticed.

We measure what we value, and we value what we measure. In this workshop, data and assessment expert, Matthew Savage, will explore the different ways in which we can tune into our students’ wellbeing. After all, the better we understand how they are feeling, the more we can connect with their own experience.
