Ellen believes in the power of young people as changemakers, and her work in and out of the classroom focuses on nurturing student activism and leadership. She strives to inspire learners to use their unique combination of skills and talents to take action on issues they are passionate about. For 14 years, she taught Individuals & Societies and IB Diploma History, and served as Global Citizenship Coordinator at Hong Kong Academy. Since 2018 she has been the Global Coordinator for the Global Citizen Diploma Consortium. This position gives her the opportunity to collaborate with a group of like-minded schools on approaches to global citizenship education.
