Despite schools being organizations where students learn, schools are not necessarily learning organizations. Joseph interviewed leadership team members at nine international schools across Asia that approached their transition to remote learning in response to the pandemic with a learning orientation. A strong sense of identity, commitment to organizational values, and an approach to learning-at-work provided a foundation for these schools to create novel and meaningful learning experiences for students despite the challenges presented by COVID-19. Rather than responding to a crisis, these schools and leadership team members saw an opportunity to improve the ways we do school and create new pathways for teaching and learning. Participants will gain insights into the characteristics that allow schools to transform and deliver the teaching and learning that children need and deserve to thrive in a changing world.
