Bridging the Gap: From ‘Academic Culture Shock’ to Academic Belonging

Wellness - School
March 2026 - 21CLHK

After years at school, however subconsciously, students form a strong belief about what education is … and what it is not. For those transitioning from more traditional grade-focused systems, joining an international school which values collaboration and academic learning can provide quite the academic culture shock.

In this session, we explore what this transition feels like for the students and consider ways in which we can support them across the school, so that they come to feel like they truly belong.
