Covid 19 has pushed learning at South African private school into the digital realm. Even as schools have been re-opened since the end of our hard lock down, hybrid teaching is still norm.
In 2020 I completed a PHD study at the University of Pretoria where I attempted to quantify the impact of facilitation on the learning quality in online groups. In an experiment situated on the Microsoft Office Teams platform I measured the learning quality of groups who were facilitated against groups who were not facilitated.
In my presentation I share the findings of this study as well as the conclusion that I drew concerning the role of a teacher in online learning.
