It is impossible to list the numerous tasks teachers do, and decisions they make each day. In today’s educational context, under the endless expectations, teachers feel compelled to work in a way that is not healthy or sustainable. How can we refocus attention to the essentials? How do we shift from ‘everything is important’ to the things that are actually our priorities? Bringing a minimalist mindset to the classroom can help shed the burden of too many initiatives, strategies, and “things” in general. ASCD author presenters will debunk myths about minimalist approaches to teaching, introduce decision-making tools to help participants reflect on current practices and begin planning for a more sustainable future.
