Like everything in our lives, education is changing, and it seems to be doing so at an accelerating rate. Online, flipped, blended, hybrid, personalised, AI, PISA, everyone seems to have an answer of some kind. And yet, they all miss the point: what is important is our human-ness, our connection to each other, and our connection to nature. Our current education system promotes the kind of siloed technical excellece that disconnects us from what matters. What we need are systems to foster our understanding of what it means to be human, for the only way to change our situation is to understand why we are the way we are.

School, for all of its challenges, offers us a great foundation for driving this kind of learning, for promoting well-being, connection and growth. So, what might it look like to tweak school, rather than trying to reinvent it entirely?
