MacGyver (a cheesy 80s adventure show starring Richard Dean Andersen) was about a hero who was able to make something out of nothing (and a swiss army knife) to get himself out of sticky situations. I have taken this concept of “making something with nothing” to my classroom. MacGyver Design Challenges are quick, fun activities where kids need to think fast and use teamwork to solve a problem with very few objects and tools. I’d like to share my experience with these challenges and support anyone interested in implementing these fun and fast activities in their own classes.
