How might we build relationships by valuing differences, exchanging ideas, and preparing students for global engagement?
As the world races towards globalization, schools are growing in diversity and complexity. Global Competencies and Intercultural skills are widely used terms in education, yet not always clearly understood. As educators, we are working in communities growing in diversity and complexity. Understanding the various cultures entering our schools is not always easy. We also need to prepare our students for their future, since being globally competent is no longer something we aspire to for our students, it is a necessity.
Join us as we explore frameworks, share stories, and guide participants through exercises that expand perspectives on global competencies.
In this session, attendees will gain an understanding of the research, frameworks and terminology used when talking about global competencies. Through exercises and discussions, participants will gain an understanding of their own perceptions and values, while developing their own open mindsets to gain perspectives about others.
