More Than Just a Title Change: How to Transition from a Tech Integrator to a Tech Coach

Education Technology Leadership
February 2025 - 21CLHK

The trend for a few years has been to change the title of a role from something like “Tech Integrator” to “Tech Coach” but how do you change your practice when working with teachers. What is the difference between the two roles? How can being a Tech Coach help begin to change the culture of tech usage in your school?

Based on the research of Cofino, Killion, and my experience as a technology coach in the UK, Moscow, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines, this session will help participants understand what a coach is and how a coach can help teachers by providing support and guidance. It will also show how having a coach in their school can lead to long-term, sustainable professional growth within a school’s teacher population, leading to higher levels of teacher, assistant, specialist, and leadership retention (Cofino, 2023).
