Minds Made for Thinking: Teaching Students Metacognition, Critical Thinking and How Their Brains Work

Innovation in Education Student Voice Wellness - School
March 2024 - 21CLHK

We have introduced many new curricula and technologies in the past few years, but we haven’t taught students how to use the most powerful tool they will ever possess: their own minds. We use our minds to make decisions, think critically, compete, create, innovate, communicate, and collaborate. But how does the mind really work, and how can we help students harness its power? Pulling from diverse fields, including cognitive science, behavioral psychology, neuroscience, sociology, education, and organizational strategy, this workshop will identify research-based strategies we can teach students to help them understand their brains. Attendees will leave with easy-to-implement tools they can use immediately with students.
