Wondered what interdisciplinary learning looks like in a big high school like ISB? Come and hear about the joining of the C3 social studies standards with our school’s Design curriculum to create the interdisciplinary subject ‘Civic and Social Entrepreneurship’. In its third year of implementation, this ninth-grade class connects with an NGO in Uganda to explore personalised, service-oriented learning. From the mechanics of scheduling to enable interdisciplinary learning, the challenges of assessing and reporting two sets of standards in one class, and the ups and downs of developing a coherent curriculum that leverages two sets of standards to create a unified interdisciplinary experience, this presentation shares the story of a four-year journey in search of joyful and challenging interdisciplinary learning.
