Innovation Academy Online: Connecting Students and Teachers Around the World Through Meaningful Learning Experiences

Innovation in Education Leadership Student Voice
This session streamed online on 16 May 2023

Since July 2020, we have connected more than 250 students and dozens of teachers around the world through interdisciplinary, project-based online courses. While most of us prefer to learn in person, this workshop will highlight the many affordances of going remote. From breaking free of scheduling constraints and giving students more agency over their learning, to creating a sense of psychological safety with learners from different parts of the world, we will highlight what we have learned over the last three years by moving the Innovation Academy from the classrooms at the American School in Lima, Peru to Zoom with schools around the world.

We will also present ways your school and your students can get involved now that UWCSEA will become one of our IA Online Host Schools in 2023-2024. They will be joining the American International School of Budapest, the American School of Lima, and the American School of Guatemala.
