Differentiation is one of the hardest things a teacher will ever attempt. However, effective differentiation can be achieved through the use of well-designed tutorials and classroom instruction. The hybrid model of tutorial use, in combination with classroom instruction, allows students to work at their own pace. High flyers can work forward and challenge themselves while freeing up the teacher to work with students who need more support. Tutorials allow students to work asynchronously when they miss a day or as a review of skills and content. It is simply a game changer for any teacher, but is particularly effective for design and technology teachers. In my presentation, I will show examples of effective tutorial use in combination with classroom instruction, as well as tips on how to get started, update, and maintain tutorials.
