Active, healthy students are more successful – in school and in life. According to the Canadian Public Health Agency of Canada (2016), health literacy enables individuals to access, comprehend, evaluate, and communicate information to disseminate, sustain, and improve health in settings throughout life. The health of citizens is critically important to society and provides a foundation for a strong, vibrant, and positive future. The evidence also suggests that health is integral and perhaps even critical to the success of schools. This session will explore both the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of the complex, joyful and beautiful relationship between health and student (school) success. Come and join us as we discuss key concepts of health and well-being, explore the research supporting healthy schools, examine future possibilities, and maybe even have a little fun!
