Professional development that builds dynamic learning communities is the need of the hour. Based on our experience with building and sustaining communities of practice, we will be taking our participants through how they can build a bespoke professional development program for their institutions.
Our model is based on cognitive anthropologist Jean Lave’s and Etienne Wenger’s ‘Communities of Practice’ where “a group of people who share a common concern, a set of problems, or an interest in a topic come together to fulfill both individual and group goals.” Using design thinking, our approach has helped our learning community to reflect, engage and commit to their own growth and support one another through the post-pandemic years.
Our mastery drive approach which includes building skills in diverse areas such as, pedagogical enquiry, subject expertise, interpersonal and intrapersonal development has helped our team members identify their strengths and their areas of development. This has helped us to map strengths identified within our community to support one other. We look forward to sharing our learning and sharing tools that participants can use to find their true north as they build their communities of practice.
