In today’s VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) world, fostering entrepreneurial skills in students is more crucial than ever. The ability to think creatively, solve problems, and innovate are key competencies that will serve our students well in any future path they choose. This session will explore how entrepreneurship education helps to develop critical thinking, creativity, resilience and problem solving skills that are important in all subjects and will be useful in future careers. In this presentation, I will use my middle school Entrepreneurship course to illustrate how to teach students using an inquiry approach to involve them in real world problem solving, starting from the identification of a market need, and culminating in proposing a solution. These activities help to develop flexibility, teamwork, and management abilities that will be vital to students in university and beyond, regardless of the field they choose – business, technology, arts or any other. The integration of entrepreneurial thinking into different subjects will enable the students to acquire an adaptive mindset, and encourage them to lead, to initiate change and to learn with enthusiasm. I will highlight an exciting new initiative – an Entrepreneurship Competition that AIS-R recently hosted for middle and high school students. The competition provided students with an opportunity to apply entrepreneurial thinking to pitch innovative solutions and gain mentorship from world-class entrepreneurs. This session will also offer a practical view of how an entrepreneurial culture can be encouraged in the classroom, and how these skills can be used for students to shape their future academic and professional life.
