This presentation introduces an action research project conducted at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, focused on integrating Virtual Reality (VR) technology into language learning. The project specifically targets A2-level French as a Foreign Language (FFL) learners, aiming to enhance their creative writing skills through immersive experiences.
The VR workshop is structured to maximize student engagement and creativity by immersing them in interactive virtual environments. These environments provide dynamic and contextual settings that stimulate language exploration and narrative development. Following the VR immersion, students are encouraged to describe their observations, express emotions, and craft stories in French, thus reinforcing their language skills in a highly interactive manner. The VR settings offer rich opportunities for practicing various aspects of writing, including descriptive writing, dialogue construction, and the development of narrative structures.
The results of both quantitative and qualitative surveys evaluating the course will be presented, offering valuable insights into the effectiveness of VR as a tool for enhancing language learning. These findings will help inform further exploration of VR’s potential in language education and contribute to the continuous improvement of the project.
