Analytical thinking is a top-demand skill, yet AI outputs make it harder to teach. How do we equip students to question sources, identify bias, and think critically? This interactive session introduces the “ABCE’s of Analytical Thinking,” a memorable framework (and a hands-on card deck!) to help teachers guide students in analyzing any source, from a journal article to an AI-generated text.
Analytical thinking is consistently described as one of the most in-demand skills by workplaces. In a world saturated with AI-generated content, the student’s ability to question critically and understand the limitations of a source is no longer optional. How do we move students beyond surface-level acceptance to consider the bias within a data set or the hidden agenda in a source?
This interactive workshop moves from theory to practice. We will introduce the “ABCE’s of Analytical Thinking,” a simple but powerful framework designed for the modern classroom.
A- Accuracy, B-Bias, C-Completeness, E- Ethics
Participants will actively engage with these concepts using a custom-built deck of “Analytical Thinking Cards,” which serve as a novel tool for classroom discussion. We will model how to use this framework to dissect various outputs, including AI-generated text, and provide concrete strategies for teachers to foster critical analysis in any subject area.
