Most schools around the world talk a lot about student agency, self directed learning and student voice. However, the reality is most schools are still adult driven places. Philly Free School is one of a small number of schools that really puts the power in the hands of students. At Philly Free School students have as much say as the adults in not just what they learn, but how they learn. They exercise as much control over school management and operations as the adults. Come to this session to hear from a staff member and two students at the school. They will explain how the school works and why it works, and share student experiences that make concrete how this radical system of student learning can work.
