This workshop is a comprehensive one-day learning opportunity that aims to empower educators and school leaders with the knowledge and tools to create an inclusive and equitable learning environment for multilingual students. This workshop delves into the essential components of designing a culturally responsive curriculum, centering students’ identities, and promoting language equity throughout the entire school community.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be equipped with a deep understanding of the essential elements required to design and sustain equitable multilingual learning environments. They will leave with practical strategies, resources, and a renewed commitment to fostering language equity and inclusive education for all students in their schools.
This session highlights the importance of language equity beyond the classroom walls. Attendees will explore ways to engage the entire school community, including administrators, staff, families, and community members, in supporting multilingual learners and fostering an inclusive language environment. The content will focus on language equity beyond individual classrooms. Participants will learn how to create a school-wide culture that promotes multilingualism, language diversity, and equitable opportunities for language development. They will explore practical strategies for incorporating language-rich activities and resources throughout various school contexts.
This session aims to equip participants with a comprehensive linguistic equity toolkit to use in their classrooms. This toolkit will include various translanguaging approaches, ways to promote language equity in multilingual classrooms, and centering collaboration as the key element in creating equitable learning spaces. The objective is to provide teachers, leaders, and coaches attending the conference with practical strategies and resources that can be implemented to create inclusive and culturally responsive learning spaces.
