DR. ANDY HARGREAVES

International Education Thought Leader

Dr. Andy Hargreaves is Director of CHENINE (Change, Engagement and Innovation in Education) at the University of Ottawa and Research Professor at the Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College.

Andy has authored or edited over 30 books, several of which have achieved outstanding writing awards. One of these, Professional Capital: Transforming Teaching in Every School (with Michael Fullan, 2012) has received three prizes including the $100,000 Grawemeyer Award in Education for 2015. His most recent & upcoming books are Moving: a memoir of education and social mobility (Solution Tree, 2020), and Student Engagement: beyond relevance, technology and fun (with Dennis Shirley) (Solution Tree, early 2021).

Andy consults with organizations and governments all over the world and currently serves as adviser on education to Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland. He is consistently ranked by US magazine Education Week in the top #20 scholars with most influence on US policy debate.
