RETHINKING LITERACY

Rethinking Literacy is an informative and inspirational meeting of teachers interested in discussing how new technologies are transforming traditional definitions of literacy and the impact on learning in our schools.

It was a hugely inspiring conference with such a great atmosphere of sharing and people wanting to inspire each other.  I would definitely love to come back.

Loved everything about this conference. The pace, the workshops, the speakers and the colleagues. It had a really positive vibe, and it was refreshing to hear teachers talking about what they could do, rather than complaining about what “wouldn’t happen at my school!”  Thank you for the organising!

Such a great conference. I learned so many practical strategies that can be easily implemented into the classroom. These small changes can be transformative!

RETHINGKING NUMERACY

There were some great little snippets hidden amongst the sessions. It was also nice to catch up and chat to other Maths teachers in the region.

#rethinkingnumeracy was an incredible conference and a totally unique experience within Asia.  I suspect that this conference will only go from strength to strength and should be a must for all Maths specialists within Asia.

A really great insight into the ways that inquiry can be used in the maths classroom.

It was a very refreshing and yet warm experience as I got to meet like-mind Math teachers to discuss issue in teaching Math and our daily struggles. It was great meeting others and learn from other on their use of various platforms in their teaching.

There is something to be said for the coming together of such passionate educators, which innately spikes the enjoyment of our profession. This was a perfect time in the school year to feel this. Thank you to everyone!

What is reThinking Learning?

A conference about contemporary teaching and learning. The event explores how these two core areas of education are continuously evolving for all K-8 learners and teachers in the 21st century. The conference features topic experts from around the world.

Addressing the core areas of education in new ways while exploring new learning frontiers.

Event History

In 2016 United World College of South East Asia and 21st Century Learning developed a new conference. The reThinking Literacy conference sought to bring educators responsible for literacy together to learn about changing conceptions of literacy and how it might best be taught in the digital media age. In 2017 this conference was repeated and an additional event, reThinking Numeracy was added with a focus on Mathematics.

In 2018 these two conferences will be brought together under one roof as reThinking Learning. By combining the two conference, reThinking Learning aims to deliver a bigger and more exciting event. The carefully designed program will allow each conference community to maintain their own distinct identity within the overall summit while offering more extensive networking opportunities outside the formal sessions. For teachers who teach both subjects, such a primary teachers, there will be the opportunity to switch between events to choose the workshops that are of most interest and relevance.
