Workplaces are evolving, and Anna Sever is equipping Haileybury’s Middle School students to thrive in them. Automation, globalisation and flexibility have major implications for young Australians, with research showing that today’s 15-year-olds may have 17 different jobs over five careers. Anna believes that as a society we are not adequately preparing our children for this fundamental shift.
Still young herself, Anna Sever is leading the next generation, moving beyond content focused teaching and embracing what leading author Michael Fullan describes as “the new pedagogy” of higher-order skills”. She is determined to make a difference.
As Haileybury’s head of Middle School, Anna has already developed a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for students and staff, including an age and stage appropriate scaffolded wellbeing program. Now Haileybury’s Deputy Principal of Middle School, she is shaping our Middle School program to equip students with the right skills to face a complex and ever-changing workforce.
In her quest to develop the world’s best Middle School program, Anna has spent hundreds of hours researching models based on the future of work. She is collaborating with top middle schools globally to ensure the program aligns with Haileybury’s vision to be a ‘great world school’.
