Summer Howarth

Founder & Learning Designer, The Eventful Learning Co

Summer Howarth is a leading Australian learning designer, strategist, and education advisor who has shaped some of the country’s most innovative approaches to student voice and system-wide improvement. As Director of The Eventful Learning Co, she works nationally and internationally with schools, systems, and governments to champion young people as partners in shaping education.

Summer has been instrumental in landmark initiatives such as the Northern Territory Learning Commission, The South Australia Active Citizenship Convention, the NSW Game Changer Challenge, and the creation of state and national student voice bodies including the NT Youth Voice Peak Group and the National Student Voice Council. Her work has influenced education strategies across South Australia, New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Tasmania, and internationally with networks such as GELP and the OECD.

A sought-after facilitator, Summer is known for her energetic, high-trust design processes that activate learner agency, empower educators, and connect policy with practice. She has supported schools and leaders to design improvement inquiries, build professional learning frameworks, and create cultures of partnership, innovation, and joy in learning.

Her contributions to education have been recognised with multiple awards: she is a double Gold Good Design Award winner, a recipient of a global design award in Hong Kong for her work in student partnership, and a National Fellow of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL). Summer also holds a NSW Premier’s Award for Best Education Program and a Paul Harris Fellowship for services to education.

Summer is driven by a belief that students, educators, and communities thrive when they are empowered to co-design the future of learning.
