Shirla Sum
Dr. Shirla Sum 岑雅韻 is the Secondary School Principal at Victoria Shanghai Academy. Previously, she served as Vice Principal (Education) and Director of the Yushan Academy Center for Design and Innovation at UWC Changshu China. An experienced IB examiner, Shirla has taught Economics, Business Management, and Individuals & Societies at international schools in both Hong Kong and mainland China. Before entering the field of education, she spent five years as an economist at Goldman Sachs in New York and Hong Kong, where she conducted macroeconomic research focusing on the US and Asia-Pacific economies.
Shirla is a graduate of Pearson College UWC and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy from Wellesley College. She completed her Postgraduate Degree in Education (Economics) and Master of Education in Curriculum Studies at the University of Hong Kong, and earned her Doctor of Education (EdD) from Johns Hopkins University.
