
Mark Harrison
Dr Mark Harrison is an associate professor in the department of counselling and psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University. A graduate of Oxford University, he has extensive experience of teaching, school counselling, and university and careers guidance, and has held several positions of senior leadership at international schools. He holds master’s degrees in counselling and educational management, and a doctorate with a specialization in developmental and educational psychology. He facilitates parenting workshops in addition to providing individual, couples and family counselling for a wide range of issues. Dr Harrison is also an active researcher in the field of school counselling and has published articles in a wide range of international peer reviewed journals. He is the associate editor of the Journal of Psychologists and Counsellors in Schools, and an editorial board member of the Asia Pacific Journal of Counselling and Psychotherapy, the Journal of School-Based Counseling Policy and Evaluation, and Counselling and Psychotherapy Research. He is also the author of ‘School Counselling in an Asian Cultural Context’ and the lead editor of ‘School Counselling in East and Southeast Asia: Challenges and Opportunities.’ Dr Harrison is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a registered counsellor and clinical supervisor with the Asian Professional Counselling and Psychology Association (APCPA). He is also an honorary advisor to the APCPA.
