David Hung
Dr. David Hung is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Laurentian University in Canada, where he teaches mathematics education courses to pre-service teachers. His research focuses on how teachers use mathematical discourse to deepen student understanding, a topic he explored extensively in his doctoral work on middle school mathematics teaching.
He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, as well as a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa. His academic path builds on an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hung has served in diverse educational roles, including mathematics coach, classroom teacher, school principal, lead teacher, and university lecturer. He has taught students from ages 5 to 18 in Ontario’s public school system and has international experience teaching the Cambridge GCE O- and A-Level curriculum. He is a certified teacher in both Ontario and British Columbia.
