Amber Pitt
I believe in the power of art to nurture connection, care, and community. As an educator, researcher, and artist, I create spaces where people feel valued, inspired, and empowered to express themselves through art.
I hold a Ph.D. in Art Education from the University of Georgia and have over a decade of experience working across K-12 schools, higher education, and community settings. My work has taken me from Title I schools in Georgia to international classrooms in Turkey, Peru, and Japan, as well as mentoring future educators at the university level and directing an early-childhood day school.
Grounded in care and inclusivity, my teaching draws on Nel Noddings’ ethics of care to foster learning environments where students explore their interests, engage with their communities, and grow as creative thinkers.
My research and artistic practice focus on how artmaking supports relationships, well-being, and belonging. Using approaches such as video ethnography and place-based learning, I explore how collaborative art experiences nurture care and social connection.
