Where is the Teacher? The 12 Shifts for Creating Learner-Centered Environments

Innovation in Education Leadership Student Voice Pedagogy & Assessment
May 2023 - 21CLBKK

Kids today can learn more from a 5 minute Youtube Video than they can from a day full of lectures. In our highly advanced world, ‘teachers’ come in all shapes and forms, and oftentimes, they aren’t even human. So what then is our role as the classroom teacher? Are we even necessary? The good news for educators is that we will always be necessary- but not as the traditional deliverer of content from the front of the classroom. But rather, as thoughtful ‘designers and facilitators of learner-centred environments’ who gently guide from behind the scenes. In this interactive workshop, participants will unpack the 12 shifts for developing these kind of environments, and walk away with new tools to make their classrooms more learner-centered!
