“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”
-Richard Lingard, 1670 (not Plato!)
Coaching is a place of emergence and discovery. Coaching is a place to explore ideas, draw on experience other than your own, and step into a version of yourself that’s a little different to your everyday. A great coaching relationship is one that is built upon a foundation of possibility, and invites the coachee to view their work through that lens.
The exact same things can be said of the children in our schools when they’re hard at play.
Play helps us to process and understand the world around us, to share who we are, and to understand each other better. LEGO Serious Play offers us a method and a container in which to open up our own thinking to that sense of what could be, to share and listen deeply, and to conduct these big conversations in a way that builds rapport and understanding alongside the physical act of building solutions with our hands.
This workshop will be a unique experience of a facilitated coaching session using the LEGO Serious Play method. It’s ideal for aspiring or established instructional coaches, coachees looking for better ways to express themselves, or aspiring leaders looking to deepen their communication.
You’ll walk away from this session with two things.
First, you’ll get to have a hands-on experience of a coaching session using the LEGO Serious Play method.
Second (and most importantly), you’ll take away some insights on how you might bring a sense of playfulness into your own coaching conversations, either as budding coach, or as enthusiastic coachee.
(You’ll also have a lot of fun.)
