International educators build careers across countries, cultures and communities, yet little attention has been given to how sustained mobility may reshape the educators themselves. This workshop introduces the emerging concept of the Third Culture Educator (TCE), a new lens for exploring how cross-cultural experience may influence professional identity, relationships and belonging.
At the heart of the session is restorative practice as a response to this experience. Through reflection, voice and dialogue, restorative practices create space for educators to examine what they carry across contexts, make meaning of transition and better understand themselves and others.
Together, TCE and restorative practice offer a new way of thinking about learning cultures: one that recognizes educators as continually becoming through their experiences and belonging as something intentionally cultivated within community.
The workshop asks: If international experiences change educators, how can schools create cultures that acknowledge those changes, address the challenges that come with frequent changes in workplace settings, and intentionally benefit from the diverse skills and knowledge attained through multiple educator experiences?
