NIST International School


The first and only full, not-for-profit International Baccalaureate (IB) international school in Bangkok, Thailand, NIST International School was established in 1992 with the support of the United Nations. The school now welcomes over 1,500 students of over 50 nationalities and provides all three IB programmes. NIST is governed by the parent-elected NIST International School Foundation and is accredited through the Council of International Schools (CIS) and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
Recognized worldwide for its progressive approach, the IB programmes provide students with critical 21st century skills. The academic structure emphasizes exploration, risk-taking and trans-disciplinary learning. All students are required to take part in community service activities that encourage them to empathize with others and actively solve issues. Teresa Tung

Deputy Head of Secondary, Curriculum (MYP) NIST International School

Teresa Tung has facilitated learning in primary and secondary education, and with adults. Currently, she is the Deputy Head of Secondary, Curriculum (MYP) at NIST International School in Bangkok, Thailand and teaches middle school English. Teresa believes deeply in the power of collaborative learning networks to empower educator growth for better learning. As such, she has co-leads the Collaboration for Growth professional network for MYP, and has co-organized the Global Citizenship Summit and co-founded the Bangkok ServICE Network and inaugural conference. In addition, she is the chair of the Educator Empowerment steering team for Compass Education, an organisation serving to empower and connect learning communities to educate and act for a sustainable future. Passionate about education’s role in developing a flourishing future, Teresa has also coordinated the Global Citizen Diploma at NIST, delivered a keynote on the importance of creativity, and contributes to a mentorship and free online education program for refugee and asylum seekers. Teresa also has a cat who uses the human toilet (but does not flush).
