5 Types of Nonfiction

You know about fiction and nonfiction, right?

But do you know there are ways to sort out your nonfiction section to make it accessible to readers with a variety of reading preferences?

Nonfiction writer and expert Melissa Stewart has helped me grow my nonfiction section into something that students can enjoy based on the way they like to learn.

In this workshop, you’ll spend time in your library catalog looking at ways you can sort your nonfiction section in a more child-friendly way.

Kimbra Power, Barefoot Librarian, Shanghai American School

I’m an Elementary Librarian who loves being in front of the students sharing books. I advocate for all students to make their own choices, I advocate that picture books are for everyone, and that graphic novels and audio books are real books. When I’m not reading with kiddos, I’m planning events like Books to Eat, Battle of the Books and our annual Cardboard Challenge; I love a project.
