Ever marvel at a sunset? Been blown away by the stars in the night sky?
By cultivating awe in the classroom, we pursue an unexplored resource that can heighten curiosity, increase openness to learning, and a foster engagement.
For K-5 students, who are naturally drawn to wonder and exploration, awe can be a transformative emotion that opens the door to inquiry-based learning. By leveraging a range of tools—books, video, graphics, realia, and more—we can inspire young learners to become enthusiastic, self-driven explorers of knowledge. This session will guide educators to understand the power of awe and learn how to to leverage it in the classroom to enhance opportunities for students to read, write, create, and collaborate to build new knowledge across the content areas.
